Electric Induction Furnace Diagram

Induction furnace steelmaking is a steelmaking method that uses induction electrothermal effect to heat and melts metal. It is especially suitable for smelting a small amount of high-quality steel and alloy with high-quality raw materials (high-quality scrap steel, ferroalloy, etc.). The vacuum induction furnace equipped with a vacuum system is an important piece of equipment for smelting high-quality alloys.

Induction furnaces are widely used in metal smelting and are the main equipment in foundry and heat treatment workshops. The intermediate frequency induction furnace converts the three-phase power frequency alternating current into direct current after rectification, and then converts the direct current into an adjustable intermediate frequency (above 300hz to 20khz) power supply, and flows through the intermediate frequency alternating current in the capacitor and induction coil to generate high density. The magnetic line of force cuts the metal material contained in the induction coil and generates a large eddy current in the metal material to heat or melt the metal material, thereby realizing the thermal processing of the metal.

In the medium-frequency induction furnace, the filling between the induction coil and the heated and melted metal is called the furnace lining. It is generally composed of a refractory layer, heat insulation layer, and insulation layer. In addition to the role of containing molten metal and smelting, it also plays the role of heat insulation, insulation, and energy transmission. The lining of the induction furnace is an important part and a key component of the induction furnace. The quality of the lining directly affects the service life of the induction furnace. The furnace lining of the furnace mouth of the induction furnace is easily damaged by the impact of large pieces of furnace material during charging, thereby reducing the insulation effect of the induction furnace and increasing the power consumption of the induction furnace.

Metallurgical Characteristics of Electric Induction Furnace

(1) The heat reaches the metal molten pool first and then conducts to the slag, so the temperature of the slag is lower;

(2) It is a cylindrical melting pool, which determines that there is a smaller steel-slag ratio interface area in the crucible melting;

(3) The molten pool is subjected to strong electromagnetic stirring. The lower the frequency of the power supply, the higher the power and the stronger the stirring, which is the main factor limiting the maximum specific power;

(4) Compared with arc heating, induction heating has no hot spots, no arc, less environmental pollution, and uniform temperature;

(5) No carbon increase, no local overheating, simple operation, and less alloy burning loss;

(6) The refining reaction cannot be carried out, the requirements for the furnace lining are relatively strict, the capacity is relatively small, and the production is not continuous, so the cost is high.

Induction Furnace Voltage

Induction Furnace Voltage The induced voltage of the intermediate frequency furnace often exists on the inductor coil, the furnace mouth plate, the water-cooled guide rail, and the furnace body bracket. So, what is the reason for the induction voltage of the induction furnace? Next, we will talk about the induced voltage of the intermediate frequency furnace. When the induction coil of the intermediate frequency furnace is working, when an alternating current passes through the coil, an alternating magnetic field is established in the space around the coil. An induced electromotive force is generated in the metal blank in the alternating magnetic field. We often regard the blank as a closed circuit with only one turn of the coil. When the induced electromotive force is generated, an alternating self-circulating circulating current—eddy current is generated in the circuit. Induction heating is to use the heat energy generated by this eddy current to heat the metal blank. The water-cool...

Troubleshooting of Medium Frequency Furnace

Troubleshooting of Medium Frequency Furnace This article introduces the faults and solutions of medium frequency furnace. 1. Fault phenomenon: large DC current, low DC voltage, and if the voltage, dull equipment sound, over-current protection. Analysis and treatment: the thyristor with one arm of the inverter bridge may be short-circuited or open-circuited, resulting in the operation of the three-arm inverter bridge. Use an oscilloscope to observe the voltage drop waveform of the thyristor on the four bridge arms of the inverter bridge. If the voltage drop waveform of the thyristor on one bridge arm is a line, the thyristor has been through; if it is a sine wave, the thyristor has not been through. Replace the through thyristor; find out the reason why the thyristor is not turned on. 2. Fault phenomenon: when the heavy load cold furnace is started, all electrical parameters and sounds are normal, but the power cannot be raised, and overcurrent protection. Analysis and ...
